Sungrow wins Japanese order
During Smart Energy Week 2025, Sungrow Japan entered into an important agreement with Sun Village Co., Ltd., a pioneer in the development of non-fixed tariff subsidy (FIT) solar power plants in Japan. We will cooperate in the procurement and sales of grid-scale energy storage systems in Tokyo.
Under the agreement, Solarvillage plans to deploy approximately 500 megawatt-hours (MWh) of solar power PowerTitan and PowerStack series energy storage systems at battery storage power plants across Japan. These systems include containerized PowerTitan and cabinet-mounted PowerStack, which offer flexible installation options such as side-by-side or back-to-back configurations. Safety and reliability are Paramount in the design, with comprehensive three-level overcurrent protection (at the battery PACK, RACK, and power conversion system PCS levels), advanced fire safety measures, and thermal runaway prevention. Last year, to further reinforce its commitment to safety, SunPower conducted the world's largest battery energy storage system (BESS) combustion test for PowerTitan, demonstrating exceptional resilience and reliability in real-world scenarios.
The collaboration aims to accelerate Japan's energy transition, help the country achieve its decarbonization goals and meet customer expectations through rapid deployment. Chen Tang, General Manager of Sunpower Japan, said: "2025 is the beginning of the next decade of Sunpower in the Japanese market. We are excited to partner with SolarVillage on our commitment to providing advanced technology and energy solutions to achieve a sustainable society." Through this project, we are proud to play an important role in supporting Japan's energy transition." In addition, this collaboration enhances Sunpower's brand presence in the Japanese market and enables us to offer innovative solutions to a wider range of customers."
